About Me

Having lived in different parts of the United States throughout my life, I am happy to be settled in Southern Maine and call it my home.

When I'm not meeting with clients and doing the work I love, I enjoy playing with my daughter, cooking adventures (and dance parties) in the kitchen, long walks in the woods with my dog, listening to music, gardening, art projects,  spending time with friends, loved ones, and the outdoors.

A STRENGTHS-BASED APPROACH

Internal Family Systems Therapy (or IFS) is the primary model that guides my practice. IFS is strengths-based, evidenced-based, and trauma-informed. Developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz, it integrates concepts from structural family therapy, contemplative practices, and mindfulness that encourages a compassionate relationship with ourselves and others.

IFS explores patterns of thoughts, behaviors, emotions, and the exhausted roles we often find ourselves in that are no longer serving us. Through calm and centered connection we can invite authentic, grounded ways of connecting to ourselves, meeting emotional needs, and being in the world. It reveals the wisdom and courage we all have within.

A TRAUMA-INFORMED LENS

Poly-Vagal Theory developed by Dr. Stephen Porges, explains the science of self-regulation. This theory offers a framework of understanding how our body and brain work together on a continual journey for survival and safety, which is important in understanding and addressing trauma.

It helps explain what our bodies are telling us about how we feel, - whether we feel safe and engaged, activated towards real and perceived danger (known as the fight or flight response), and when we become necessarily protective and in shut-down mode.
